Seventh Rain Next Round

Well they’re at it again! Another sweet design that was really fun to work on. If you haven’t seen their shirts from before you should have a look.
Either way I wanted to show all of you what I stayed up till 3 am last night doing. This is all for the support of these guys who are 1 of 4 bands competing tomorrow night for a contest down in Calgary for AMP 90.3′s Rock Star Final. Check out their FB event to know where to go to show your love and support. There is also some info right on their site as well.
Good luck tomorrow you guys! Hope the shirts sell well too. Wish I could be there in person myself … still working on that transporter.

Ultra Helicopters
The Workshop has been super busy lately and sometimes we get to stop and take a break to do something a little different. A few months back I helped out Ultra Helicopter make their logo into something that can be embroidered on some hats. They were really excited for the end result and I was just as excited to open a package in the mail to find one waiting for me as well. Thx you guys! Plus I am also told I will be getting paid with a helicopter ride. Nothing like that deal.
Have a look

The Workshop
Well it is finally done! I promised to show you photos a little while ago and it seems I only managed to post it to the fan page on facebook and the group. I totally forgot to put the new photos up here. Sorry about that.
Either way I am VERY excited to finally have The Workshop up here in Edmonton and better yet in my house. It may be small but some pretty mighty things come out of here. In the next few weeks it will be BUSY getting ready for The Fringe. If you don’t know we hand screen all of our own product we sell at Whiteout Market and also help out people who need screening as well, which you can see on some of our post.
Enjoy the photos.

Fall Mercy
This weekend I got to use the studio fully set up for the first time. I had so much fun screening Fall Mercy’s shirts and they are awesome guys to work for. It was nice to be able to screen and finally not stub my toes or trip over everything on the floor for once. I will be posting photos the final studio here soon.
Thank you guys for letting me screen your order again.

Steaming away while it is drying!

For those that don’t know how screening is done it
sort of shows you. Plus you are getting a sneak
peak at the way the studio now looks.

Studio Reno
To say that The Workshop has been busy would be a complete understatement. If I get a day off … well this is what I am doing. For some this is still considered work, but for us at The Workshop it seems to be the norm lately.
Most of the time has been with the silk screening studio moving from Calgary to Edmonton and it is taking a bit to get it all together. Going from 500 square feet to less than 100 is tricky. More so because the rotation of the press is 7 foot 3 and the room is 7 foot 4 across. That is what you call cutting it close.
Finding storage has been very tricky as well and making sure the shirts are not by the ink or by the messy sink. Either way I am hoping to have it fully completed in the next few weeks. Hopefully before the real work starts preparing for The Fringe … which I can’t wait for.
In the mean time I just want give you a mini sneak peak at the one side of the room. I will be sure to do full shots of the studio once it is completed.
In the end I am pretty excited I can just screen as I want … even if the room heats up to over 40 degrees … I wish I was kidding.

Music 2009

For the last two years I have volunteered to put together a yearly music book that a group of people submit their top 10 picks … or really what ever they want … to talk about the year of music. I have been lucky enough that Keith … who organizes it all … has let me do this again this year.
Even though it is now pushing well into July they are finally done. I would have never been able to do it without the amazing work of Theo as well. Luckily for The Workshop he is a very talents designer and put together an awesome theme for the year. All I had to do was print it out, come of with a sweet paper stock and stitch it together.
We managed to pull it all together in the end and I must say I am loving this mini project we got to do. Hopefully everyone who gets a copy sent to them loves it too. For all of you that won’t get to see it in person that is why I posted the photo of the books ready to be shipped. We hope to have the inside design up on the main website here soon. Just in the process of putting that all together right now.

Hanging the hanging birds …
Getting ready for shows can be interesting especially when it is time to start screening all the prints to sell. Finding space to dry 18 x 24 prints and anywhere from 30 – 50 of them can be interesting to day the least. Back in the old studio we used to just hang them all from the room like a clothes line. I thought it was pretty fun seeing them all lined up.

Might be interesting figuring out where to put them now that the studio is so much smaller.

Sweet design
A had the pleasure a little while ago of screening an order for a youth group and must admit it was a pretty fun design to screen on all the shirts and hoodies. Just wanted to show you a bit of the work that The Workshop has been pumping out of it’s studio lately.

Seventh Rain

Over the last few months I have been doing a custom ink screen for a local Calgary band called Seventh Rain. These guys not only are an amazing band, but are incredibly laid back and fun to work for.
Right when I was quoting the project I knew it was going to be fun. I don’t know if you have ever seen shirts screened with multiple colours like this, but thought it would be fun to show you how it is done. It is a creative way to always make one of a kind shirts. It is impossible to get the same shirt twice .

The bonus to screening these is that all the residual ink that is left over collects to make a really awesome bronze colour that I love to screen with. Oh and wait to see what is currently being pumped out of the studio … hopefully you will love it as much as I do!
Thank you to Seventh Rain for allowing me to screen your shirts!
